Industry-Academia-Research Mutual Empowerment | Wenzhou–Nanyang Technological University Research Institute Visits Chengke Group
On September 9, a delegation from the Wenzhou–Nanyang Technological University Research Institute, led by Deputy Dean Gao Yi and Director of the Science and Technology Cooperation Department Li Hao, visited Wenzhou Chengke Group for an inspection and exchange. Huang Guohua, Chairman of Chengke Group, and Yang Hao, Director of the President's Office, warmly received the delegation and held a symposium with them.
The delegation led by Deputy Dean Gao Yi first visited Wenzhou Chengke Group's Corporate Exhibition Center and Design Technology R&D Center, where they gained detailed insights into the Group's development across business segments including construction engineering, green construction, decoration and renovation, and construction digitalization. They observed on-site the technical achievements of the Group's key projects and heard presentations on the company's practices in construction technology innovation, project implementation, and industrial transformation and upgrading.
At the symposium, Huang Guohua, Chairman of Chengke Group, introduced that Chengke Group has been deeply engaged in Wenzhou’s construction and urban development sectors for many years. The group adheres to empowering engineering construction through scientific and technological innovation, actively explores the application of new technologies such as green buildings (prefabricated interior fit-out), green building materials, and smart construction sites in engineering scenarios, and continuously promotes the transformation of the traditional construction industry toward construction technology. He expressed the hope to rely on NTU’s top-tier research strength and the Research Institute’s technology transfer platform to identify points of alignment in green buildings, new material applications, digital construction, and joint cultivation of high-end talent, open up a channel for research outcomes to move from the laboratory to engineering sites, and achieve two-way empowerment among industry, academia, and research.
Gao Yi, Deputy Director of the Wenzhou-Nanyang Technological University Joint Research Institute, expressed gratitude to Chairman Huang Guohua of Chengke Group for the warm reception and introduced the Institute’s background, research layout, and technology transfer mechanisms. The Institute leverages NTU’s globally leading engineering discipline strengths, focuses on cutting-edge technological breakthroughs and high-level talent cultivation, and builds a bridge connecting international research resources with local industry. The green and digital transformation of the construction industry is one of the Institute’s key directions. Chengke Group has solid engineering practice and market implementation capabilities, and the two sides have a high degree of alignment in their business directions. He looked forward to taking this visit as a starting point to further deepen engagement and explore diverse cooperation models such as joint technological research, pilot projects, and joint talent cultivation, so as to help Wenzhou’s construction industry achieve high-quality development.
The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including green building materials, low-carbon building technologies, digital engineering management, talent attraction and cultivation, and the industrialization and implementation of projects. They exchanged ideas and views, and reached a preliminary consensus on subsequent regular engagement and carrying out special topic seminars.
This exchange built a bridge of communication between the Wenzhou-Nanyang Technological University Joint Research Institute and a leading local construction enterprise. Going forward, the two sides will continue to maintain close engagement, identify the right entry points for cooperation, promote the deep integration of cutting-edge technology with urban construction engineering, and work together to support the innovation and upgrading of Wenzhou’s construction industry.
